Ultrasound-Guided stenting may keep leg arteries open longer

NCT ID NCT05805280

First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tested whether using a special ultrasound camera inside the blood vessel (intravascular ultrasound) helps doctors choose the right stent size and placement for blocked leg arteries, compared to the usual X-ray guidance. About 100 people with leg pain or tissue loss due to blocked arteries took part. The goal was to see if the ultrasound-guided approach keeps the artery open longer and reduces the need for repeat procedures.
