New hysterectomy method aims to protect vaginal health
NCT ID NCT07308197
Summary
This study compared two surgical techniques used during a total abdominal hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) to see which one better preserves the length of the vagina. It involved 80 women aged 40-65 who were having surgery for non-cancerous conditions like fibroids. The main goal was to see if a new method, starting the incision at the back of the vagina, resulted in less vaginal shortening after surgery compared to the traditional method.
