Hospital tests new rules to stop Surgery-Related hypothermia

NCT ID NCT07470801

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether a new temperature management guideline at Siriraj Hospital helps prevent hypothermia (low body temperature) in adults during surgery. Hypothermia is a common complication of anesthesia that can lead to serious problems. The study will track 361 patients to see if more of them get their temperature monitored and if fewer develop hypothermia compared to before the protocol was introduced.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that a simple hospital protocol can reduce dangerous drops in body temperature during surgery, improving patient safety.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a test of a new treatment. It only looks at one hospital, so results may not apply elsewhere. The protocol may not change outcomes as hoped.
