Computer trick could help millions control blood pressure better

NCT ID NCT07298694

Summary

This study tests whether changing how blood pressure medications appear in doctors' electronic health record systems increases prescriptions for preferred combination pills. Researchers will modify 50 primary care clinics' computer systems to either show combination medications at the top of medication lists or add "(PREFERRED)" labels, then measure if this changes prescribing patterns. The goal is to help patients better manage high blood pressure through simpler medication regimens that may improve adherence.
