New combo pill aims to tame stubborn high blood pressure
NCT ID NCT06671392
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This Phase 3 trial tested whether adding a third drug (DWC202314) to a two-drug combination pill works better for people with essential hypertension that isn't controlled by the two-drug pill alone. 198 participants took either the two-drug or three-drug combination once daily. The study measured changes in sitting systolic blood pressure over time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
combination pill (DWC202405/DWC202313 plus DWC202314)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a more effective once-daily pill for people whose high blood pressure is not well controlled with current treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a completed Phase 3 trial, but results are not yet published. The new combination may not prove significantly better than existing options, and side effects are possible.
