Dissolving stent could spare kidney stone patients a second surgery

NCT ID NCT06719089

First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new type of ureteral stent that is designed to dissolve on its own after a few days, potentially eliminating the need for a second procedure to remove it. Researchers will compare this biodegradable stent to a standard one in 134 adults who have had kidney stone surgery. The goal is to see if the new stent is safe, keeps urine flowing properly, and reduces common stent-related discomfort.
