Tiny implant tested as new hope for stubborn glaucoma
NCT ID NCT03267134
Summary
This study tested a small medical device called the Hydrus Microstent in people with open-angle glaucoma that was difficult to control with standard treatments. The device is implanted during eye surgery to help lower internal eye pressure, which can prevent further vision damage from glaucoma. Researchers followed 217 participants for about a year to see if the device safely reduced eye pressure while allowing patients to use the same or fewer eye-drop medications.
