Brain fluid test could prevent unnecessary surgeries
NCT ID NCT05915000
Summary
This study aims to find a better way to predict which adults with chronic hydrocephalus (a buildup of brain fluid causing walking, thinking, and bladder problems) will improve after getting a shunt surgery. Researchers will check for specific proteins in patients' spinal fluid before surgery to see if these protein levels can forecast how well the shunt will work. The goal is to help doctors and patients make more informed decisions about whether surgery is the right choice.
