Could a text message help pregnant people get better health advice?
NCT ID NCT06896292
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding a digital support tool to standard antenatal care helps more pregnant people receive guideline-recommended advice on smoking, nutrition, alcohol, physical activity, and weight gain. About 372 pregnant people at two hospitals in Australia will use the tool, which sends SMS prompts to self-assess risks and get tailored information. The goal is to see if this hybrid model improves how often these health topics are discussed and addressed during pregnancy.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
digital support tool (behavioural intervention)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that a simple digital tool helps pregnant people get better preventive care during antenatal visits.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage feasibility study, not a large-scale trial. The tool may not improve care in real-world settings, and results may not apply to other hospitals or populations.
