Can a thicker gel ease shoulder pain better?
NCT ID NCT07729514
First seen Jul 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 31, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This trial tests whether an ultra-high molecular weight hyaluronic acid injection works better than a standard high molecular weight version for subdeltoid bursitis, a painful shoulder condition. About 50 adults with recent shoulder pain will receive an ultrasound-guided injection and be followed for three months. The goal is to see which gel formula provides greater relief from pain and disability.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- ultra-high molecular weight hyaluronic acid injection or high molecular weight hyaluronic acid injection
- What this could lead to
- If one type works better, it could offer a more effective injection option for shoulder bursitis pain.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase trial with only 52 participants, so results may not apply broadly. Injections carry risks like pain or infection.
