New gel could soothe painful rash from cancer treatment
NCT ID NCT05639933
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a topical gel called HT-001 for treating skin rashes, dryness, and nail problems caused by EGFR inhibitor cancer drugs. About 152 adults on these cancer therapies will apply the gel daily for 6 weeks. The goal is to see if it reduces rash severity and improves quality of life, with a placebo comparison in the second phase.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- HT-001 topical gel
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could provide a new treatment option for painful skin rashes caused by certain cancer drugs, helping patients stay on their cancer therapy more comfortably.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early Phase 2 trial with only 152 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The gel is topical and has low risk, but it may not work better than placebo.
