Brazilian trial aims to replace scans with simple blood test for HPV cancers

NCT ID NCT06640283

Summary

This study is testing a new, low-cost blood test designed to detect tiny pieces of cancer DNA (ctDNA) in patients with HPV-related cervical or anal cancer after they finish radiation treatment. The goal is to see if this test can spot cancer recurrence earlier than standard scans and help doctors decide which patients might benefit from adding immunotherapy. The research aims to make this monitoring tool available within Brazil's public healthcare system.
