Scientists probe why too little sleep makes you hungry and foggy

NCT ID NCT03142893

Summary

This study aims to understand exactly how not getting enough sleep affects the body's stress and sex hormones, as well as thinking skills and food cravings. Researchers will monitor 80 healthy men in a lab, giving them only 4 hours of sleep per night for 4 nights while measuring their hormones, attention, memory, and appetite. The goal is to learn the biological reasons behind the negative effects of sleep loss, not to test a treatment.
