Scientists track how Mom's age and job shape Baby's brain for years

NCT ID NCT00361829

Summary

This study aimed to understand how a mother's age, work status, and parenting experience affect her interactions with her baby and the child's later development. Researchers observed over 2,300 mother-infant pairs when the babies were 5 months old, then checked in on the children's language, play skills, and social abilities at 20 months and 4 years old. The goal was to learn which specific early interactions are linked to better mental and social skills as children grow.
