Scientists probe hidden link between exercise, bones, and your nerves

NCT ID NCT07253493

Summary

This study aims to understand how the nervous system controls muscles during weight-bearing exercises like standing and vibration, and how this control might be different in people with osteoporosis. Researchers will measure nerve reflex responses in the legs of 24 postmenopausal women, half with osteoporosis and half without, while they stand with different amounts of weight and during gentle whole-body vibration. The goal is to learn more about the body's internal mechanisms, which could inform future approaches to exercise for bone health.
