Scientists probe the Brain's secret to erasing fear

NCT ID NCT06878807

Summary

This study aimed to understand how a common trauma therapy works. Researchers tested whether simple eye movements help people 'unlearn' a fear response faster by overloading their short-term memory. They measured how quickly 112 healthy adults stopped blinking in anticipation of a harmless puff of air after it was paired with a sound. The goal was to gather clues about the brain mechanisms behind Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
