Scientists scan brains to see how history shapes our memories

NCT ID NCT02542800

Summary

This study aimed to understand how shared cultural knowledge, or 'collective memory,' influences how our brains form personal memories. Researchers used MRI brain scans on 24 healthy French volunteers while they performed memory tasks related to World War II. The goal was to map which brain areas are involved when shared cultural knowledge interacts with individual recollection.
