Heart surgery patients: how your breathing machine may affect your Heart's pumping

Summary

This study looks at how different levels of pressure from a breathing machine (called PEEP) affect the heart's pumping ability in adults having heart surgery. Researchers will use ultrasound and monitors to measure heart function at four different pressure settings. The goal is to learn how to best set the breathing machine to protect the heart during surgery.
