Scientists probe immune System's role in mysterious vessel disease

NCT ID NCT02158208

Summary

This study aimed to understand if a specific type of immune cell (CD8 T cells) is involved in causing Horton's disease, a condition that causes inflammation in blood vessels, often in the head. Researchers compared blood samples from 30 patients newly diagnosed with the disease to samples from healthy volunteers. The goal was to gather knowledge about the disease's cause, not to test a new treatment.
