COVID-19's hidden toll on hormones revealed
NCT ID NCT05749770
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at 220 hospitalized COVID-19 patients to see if the virus changes hormone levels and how the body responds to hormones. Researchers measured things like thyroid, testosterone, and cortisol levels at several points during and after hospitalization. They also checked if people with pre-existing hormone problems had worse COVID-19 outcomes. The goal was to understand the link between COVID-19 and the endocrine system, not to test a treatment.
