Silent danger on ice: study probes hidden brain damage in young hockey stars

NCT ID NCT07341880

Summary

This study aims to understand how repeated head impacts during hockey affect young athletes' brains and bodies, even when they don't show concussion symptoms. Researchers will follow 52 elite junior players for a full season, using helmet sensors to track every hit and periodic tests to measure heart function and attention. The goal is to detect subtle early changes to improve safety and management strategies for young athletes.
