New drug trial targets rare blood disorder where body attacks its own red cells

NCT ID NCT05535933

Summary

This clinical trial is testing an investigational drug called HMPL-523 for adults with warm antibody autoimmune hemolytic anemia (wAIHA), a condition where the immune system mistakenly destroys red blood cells. The study aims to see if the drug can safely and effectively increase and sustain hemoglobin levels, a key measure of red blood cell health. It involves about 110 participants and compares the drug against a placebo to determine its benefits.
