ER doctors test dropping steroids for common hives treatment
NCT ID NCT03545464
Summary
This study tested whether using just an antihistamine pill works as well as the usual combination of an antihistamine plus a steroid pill for treating sudden, severe hives (acute urticaria) in the emergency room. Researchers wanted to see if avoiding steroids could reduce side effects and prevent hives from coming back later. They enrolled 137 adults with acute hives to compare the two treatment approaches over several months.
