New EHR tool aims to boost HIV prevention in community clinics

NCT ID NCT05245201

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This pilot study tests whether an electronic health record (EHR) tool can help doctors spot patients at higher risk for HIV and prescribe them preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP), a daily pill that prevents HIV. Researchers will roll out the tool in 2-3 community health centers and compare PrEP prescription rates to 2 clinics providing usual care. The goal is to see if the tool makes it easier for providers to offer HIV prevention to those who need it most.
