Scientists probe HIV pain mystery: is the Body's natural painkiller system failing?

NCT ID NCT04787848

Summary

This study aims to understand why chronic widespread pain is so common in people living with HIV. Researchers will test whether the problem is linked to the body's own immune cells not producing enough natural pain-relieving chemicals. They will measure pain sensitivity in 200 participants, including people with and without HIV, before and after giving a medication that blocks these natural chemicals to see how pain perception changes.
