Baltimore tests new mobile unit to fight HIV and overdose crisis
NCT ID NCT05977881
Summary
This study is testing a new community program designed to prevent HIV infections and drug overdoses among people who use drugs in Baltimore. The program uses a mobile unit to offer two main services: checking street drugs for dangerous substances and providing access to HIV prevention medication (PrEP). Researchers will follow 500 participants for 18 months to see if this combined approach helps people stay engaged in HIV prevention care and reduces overdose risk.
