Summary

This study tests if adults with HIV who are already well-controlled on daily pills can switch to a monthly injection of two long-acting drugs (cabotegravir and rilpivirine) and keep the virus suppressed. About 631 participants who were new to HIV treatment first took daily pills for 20 weeks, then half switched to the monthly shots. The goal is to see if the shots work as well as daily pills to control HIV over 48 weeks. This is not a cure—participants must continue treatment to manage the virus.
