Scientists give healthy people HIV drug to probe weight gain mystery

NCT ID NCT04771754

Summary

This study aimed to understand why some people taking the HIV medication dolutegravir gain weight. Researchers gave the drug to 16 healthy, HIV-negative volunteers for 28 days to see if it changed how their bodies process sugar, fats, and hormones. The goal was to gather basic knowledge about the drug's side effects, not to treat any disease.
