Pill bottle trackers reveal how HIV patients take their meds

NCT ID NCT00528060

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at 35 people with HIV who had never taken HIV drugs before. They all received a daily combination of three medications (atazanavir, ritonavir, tenofovir/emtricitabine) in special bottles that recorded every time they opened them. The goal was to measure how much drug stayed in their blood over time and how closely they followed their dosing schedule. Results help doctors understand the link between drug levels, adherence, and virus control.
