Brain bleed aftermath: is memory loss tied to shrinking hippocampus?

NCT ID NCT04449666

First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looks at why some people have memory problems after a brain bleed (aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage). Researchers want to see if these memory issues are linked to shrinkage in the hippocampus, a brain area important for memory. About 30 patients who had a mild brain bleed will get MRI scans and memory tests, and their results will be compared to healthy people. This is an observational study, not a treatment trial.
