Hip surgery study seeks best wound wash

Summary

This study compares two antiseptic washes used during hip replacement surgery to see which one leads to better wound healing. Researchers will enroll 420 adults with hip osteoarthritis or avascular necrosis who need a hip replacement. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either povidone-iodine or chlorhexidine wash, and their incisions will be evaluated at 2 and 6 weeks after surgery.
