FDA-Mandated check: researchers scan hip implant patients for hidden problems
NCT ID NCT01750606
Summary
This study was done to check for hidden tissue reactions in people who received specific Biomet metal-on-metal or metal-on-plastic hip implants. Researchers contacted 397 patients who still had their original implant and asked them to get an MRI, a blood test, and a physical exam. The goal was to see how common these tissue changes were and what factors might be linked to them.
