Race against time: can early surgery for hip fractures avoid dangerous delays?
NCT ID NCT07309848
Summary
This study aims to find the safest time to operate on older adults with hip fractures who are taking blood thinners (DOACs). It compares surgery within 24 hours to surgery after a delay, focusing on whether early surgery leads to a greater need for blood transfusions. The goal is to provide evidence to help hospitals decide on the best timing to balance bleeding risks with the dangers of waiting.
