New nerve blocks tested to ease agony of moving hip fracture patients

NCT ID NCT06917807

Summary

This study compared two different nerve-blocking techniques to relieve pain when positioning patients with broken hips for spinal anesthesia. Forty-two adults scheduled for hip fracture surgery received either a PENG block or a QLB block before their procedure. Researchers measured which method better reduced pain during movement and made it easier for patients to sit still for the anesthesia injection.
