First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a 6-week program of high-intensity interval training (short, intense exercise bursts) could improve physical fitness, heart-lung capacity, and sleep quality in male university students who sit for more than 8 hours daily. 56 healthy but inactive students took part. The goal was to see if this time-efficient exercise could help counteract the negative effects of prolonged sitting.
