Exercise boosts strength and mood in seniors with sarcopenia?

NCT ID NCT07399301

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether high-intensity functional training can improve physical performance and mental health in elderly people with sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss). Sixty participants aged 60-70 will be split into two groups: one doing intense exercises 3 times a week for 10 weeks, and the other doing sham exercises. The main goal is to see if the training improves balance, strength, and walking speed.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

High-intensity functional training exercises

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple exercise program to help elderly people with sarcopenia move better and feel better.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants. The sham exercise group may also improve, making it hard to see a clear benefit. Results may not apply to all elderly people.
