Could intense exercise help tame adult ADHD?
NCT ID NCT07675538
First seen Jun 30, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study explores whether high-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a practical and acceptable treatment for adults with ADHD. Researchers will recruit 30 adults diagnosed with ADHD to participate in a 14-week exercise program combining strength and endurance training. The goal is to see if people stick with the program and find it helpful, before planning a larger trial to measure effects on attention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
high-intensity interval training (HIIT)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could pave the way for a larger trial to see if HIIT helps reduce ADHD symptoms and improve focus in adults.
What could go wrong
This is a small feasibility study, not designed to prove effectiveness. Results may not generalize, and participants may find the training hard to stick with.
