First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study compares high-flow nasal oxygen to standard low-flow oxygen in adults who need a breathing tube placed while awake because of a difficult airway. The goal is to see if high-flow oxygen reduces the chance of dangerously low oxygen levels during the procedure. About 336 participants from six hospitals in China will be randomly assigned to one of the two oxygen methods.
