First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving high-flow nasal oxygen right after major abdominal or chest surgery can prevent lung complications in frail adults. About 200 high-risk patients will be randomly assigned to receive either high-flow oxygen or standard oxygen therapy. The goal is to see if the high-flow method reduces breathing problems in the first week after surgery.
