First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tested whether giving a high daily dose of primaquine for a short time, after a quick test for G6PD deficiency, can safely cure vivax malaria. About 3,000 people with vivax malaria took part across 6 health centers in Indonesia. The goal was to see if this approach could eliminate the parasite from both the blood and the liver, preventing the disease from coming back.
