Summary
This study tested a new way to treat vivax malaria, a type that can hide in the liver and come back. Researchers gave a short, high-dose course of the drug primaquine after a quick test for a genetic condition (G6PD deficiency) that can cause dangerous side effects. The goal was to see if this approach is safe and practical for routine use. About 800 patients with vivax malaria took part at health centers in Papua New Guinea.
