Can certain foods protect kids with feeding tubes from lung damage?
NCT ID NCT07303738
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looks at whether certain foods given through a feeding tube can lower bile acid levels in the stomach and saliva of children who have trouble swallowing and are at risk for breathing in stomach contents. About 60 children who get most of their nutrition through a gastrostomy tube will receive either a standard formula or a special blenderized diet that binds bile acid. Researchers will measure bile acid levels over four hours after feeding to see if the high bile-binding diet works better at reducing these levels.
