Sound vs. ice: new battle for skin cancer treatment
NCT ID NCT07384078
Summary
This study will test whether a focused ultrasound treatment (HIFU) works as well as standard freezing therapy (cryotherapy) for treating common, low-risk skin cancers like basal cell carcinoma and Bowen's disease. Researchers will compare how well each treatment removes the cancer, how much pain patients feel, and how the skin heals over five years. About 294 adults with confirmed skin cancers on their torso or thighs will be randomly assigned to receive either the ultrasound or freezing treatment.
