New surgical twist aims to ease painful hemorrhoid recovery

NCT ID NCT07360912

Summary

This study tested if adding a small cut to a muscle during hemorrhoid surgery helps patients recover with less pain and bleeding. It involved 120 adults with severe hemorrhoids who were randomly assigned to get the standard surgery or the surgery with the extra step. Researchers measured pain and bleeding for two weeks after the operation to see which method worked better.
