Timing of blood thinner could save lives in heart attacks

NCT ID NCT07361783

First seen Jan 26, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving a blood thinner (heparin) right after diagnosing a heart attack, instead of waiting until the procedure to open the blocked artery, leads to better outcomes. About 6,294 adults having a major heart attack will be randomly assigned to receive heparin early or later. The goal is to see if early treatment reduces death, repeat heart attacks, or other serious problems within 30 days.
