First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests a new device called heepSync that uses mild electrical pulses to stimulate the breathing muscles of patients on ventilators in the ICU. The goal is to see if it is safe and can help prevent muscle weakness that often occurs with prolonged ventilation. About 20 adult patients will participate, and the device will be evaluated for how well it synchronizes with the patient's own breathing.
