New device could help ventilator patients breathe easier

Summary

This study tests a new device called heepSync that uses mild electrical pulses to stimulate breathing muscles in patients on mechanical ventilators. The goal is to prevent muscle weakness that often occurs in the ICU. About 20 adults on ventilators will take part to see if the device is safe and works well.
