Heart Surgery's hidden risk: how long on the machine affects your gut

NCT ID NCT06697405

Summary

This study looked back at 1,444 patients who had heart valve replacement surgery using a heart-lung machine. Researchers wanted to see if being on the machine for longer periods (2 hours or more) led to more gut problems after surgery. They compared recovery times, lab tests, and hospital stays between patients with normal and prolonged machine use to understand this risk better.
