New hope for patients too sick for Open-Heart surgery
NCT ID NCT01675440
Summary
This study tested a less invasive procedure to replace a narrowed heart valve (aortic stenosis) in patients who were too sick for traditional open-heart surgery. Doctors inserted a new valve through a catheter in the leg or chest. The main goal was to see if this approach was safe and effective at reducing the risk of death or major stroke within one year for these very high-risk patients.
