New heart surgery solution tested for kids with birth defects
NCT ID NCT07381530
Summary
This study aims to compare the safety and heart-protecting effects of two solutions used during heart surgery in children with congenital heart defects. Researchers want to see if a newer solution (Custodiol-N) works as well or better than the standard one (Custodiol) at protecting the heart muscle during surgery. The trial involves 100 children under 18 who need heart surgery with a heart-lung machine, but the study is currently suspended.
